We have been telling the fascinating story of ostrich farming in Oudtshoorn for over a hundred years. Our tours surprise, inform, and delight visitors from all over the world.

Meet ostriches face to face and learn more about ostrich farming.  Our guests describe the guided tours as family friendly, interesting and informative, and a great experience with ostriches and more ostriches….

Our tours offer interactions with the world’s largest bird, the ostrich, which lays the largest eggs, has the most beautiful feathers and eyes that make you want to fall in love and hug them!

Learn all about the ostriches, feed one by the hand and watch our staff expertly demonstrate the various crafts using the ostrich’s exquisite feathers, eggs and leather.

Pepper Tree Restaurant

Enjoy the freshly prepared local cuisine and soak up to the relaxed atmosphere. Dine al fresco in the shade of a giant Pepper Tree and enjoy great service at Highgate Ostrich Show Farm.

Whether it’s a cup of our special African Arabica coffee, something light for brunch or an expertly prepared no fat, low cholesterol ostrich steak for lunch, you will find a dish to please parents and children alike on our tapas menus.

Catch your breath and visit our shop selling only genuine South African made products, many of which are produced by our skilled staff on the farm. From beautiful decoupage ostrich eggs to exquisite ostrich leather products, fashionable clothing and a vast range of ostrich feather dusters, our Showroom will have something for anybody’s taste.

Highgate’s beautiful Karoo gardens and charming rustic indoor venue provide the most idyllic setting for a romantic wedding or special celebration.

Welcome to Hlangana Lodge, the finest small luxury hotel in Oudtshoorn.

Standard / Family:
All rooms open onto a veranda overlooking the large gardens and swimming pool. Child or 3rd /4th person sharing rates available. Please enquire for a quote.

Superior:
These rooms and their bathrooms are larger than the Standard rooms and overlook a fountain. The bathrooms have a separate toilet, shower and large bath.

Deluxe:
The deluxe rooms are brand new, offer more privacy and have large stacking doors that open onto the garden and fountain. The bathrooms have heated towel rails and the rooms are spacious and modern. There’s also the choice to have a room with an outside shower or free-standing bath.

Honeymoon:
This suite is our largest room and has a small living room and a private patio at the back. The suite’s bathroom is also the only room with a spa bath.

Kammanassie Farmstay

Kammanassie Farmstay is a charming self-catering home set on a farm located 40 km from Oudtshoorn.

The house has a long foyer with a sitting area that connects to a dining room seating 8 people.

The kitchen is equipped with a fridge, stove, microwave, toaster and kettle. A coffee station with crockery is also available.

The spacious living room (with a heater and cosy blankets) walks out onto a large veranda with beautiful views and a comfortable lounge set, providing a lovely outdoor living area.

Room 1 walks out onto the back veranda and has a double bed, wardrobe, heater and hot water bottles for the cold winter months. The en-suite bathroom has a bath, shower, basin and toilet (toilet paper provided).

Room 2 walks out onto the back veranda and has 2 single beds, a wardrobe, heater and hot water bottles. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, basin and toilet (toilet paper provided).

Outdoor braai facilities are also available.

SEPARATE ROOM

This large room, fitted with a double bed and stack beds, has a wardrobe, heater and separate bathroom with a shower, basin and toilet (toilet paper provided).

Our Karoo cottages are side by side, sharing the same magnificent Karoo View and making it convenient for families and friends travelling together:

KANON is tastefully decorated in cool shades of white with beautiful double volume natural high reed ceilings and offers you a luxurious EL king bed or twin EL beds. The fully tiled en-suite bathroom, with his and her vanities and bath with overhead shower completes this picture as well as a comfortable standard double bed sleeper couch.

FEROX echoes the natural beauty of the Karoo. Decorated in the natural desert shades which are complimented by the beautiful double volume natural high reed ceilings and offers you a Luxurious King EL bed or Twin EL beds. An en-suite fully tiled large bathroom with walk in shower, fold down seat, handheld shower and grab rail. Grab rail and trigger shower next to toilet and toilet seat raiser upon request. Level and easy access throughout.  Wheelchair friendly.
 
KRANS is tastefully decorated in sunset tones which are offset by the beautiful double volume natural high reed ceilings and offers you a luxurious king bed. The fully tiled en-suite bathroom, with his and her vanities and bath with overhead shower completes this picture.
 
STRIATA echoes the boldness of the Karoo with touches of lime green which reflect the natural flora of our gardens. Adding to the luxury are the beautiful natural high reed ceilings and offers you a luxurious EL king bed or twin EL beds. An en-suite fully tiled large bathroom with walk in shower, fold down seat, handheld shower and grab rail.Grab rail and trigger shower next to toilet and toilet seat raiser upon request. Level and easy access throughout.  Wheelchair friendly.

Our Karoo View House offers you 3 Spacious en-suite bedrooms sleeping 6, with extra capacity in each of the bedrooms & loft area. We would like to invite both our Lodge Guests and the public to sit down for a scrumptious meal at our Boulders Lodge Dining Room called Pomegranite. Please just note that due to our cosy environment and limited seating space, you are requested to book in advance.

Guests can look forward to a seasonal A la Carté menu and Braai buffets. To set the mood, cocktails can be served at the heated garden Jacuzzi.

Group menus can be arranged by prior arrangement.
