Wilgewandel Holiday Farm Activities

OVERVIEW:

Wilgewandel Holiday Farm is a short 27km scenic drive from Oudtshoorn and located just 2km from the Cango Caves.

Come enjoy a wide variety of fun activities for all ages at rock-bottom prices, including camel rides, water slides, pedal cars, rowing boats, an animal touch farm and much more.

There’s also a fully licensed à la carte restaurant serving mouth-watering traditional home-cooked meals and for those who want to stay a bit longer to savour the fresh air and unwind in our beautiful country setting, we offer comfortable and affordable self-catering accommodation.

Wilgewandel is also an ideal venue for kids’ birthday parties and corporate team building events.

ACTIVITIES:

  • Camel rides: Our well-trained dromedary camels can’t wait to offer you a ride.
  • Water slides: [Daily from 11:00 – 17:00] Great fun for the whole family!
  • 18 hole Ghwarra-Ghwarra Golf: Young and old alike will enjoy a fun round of putt-putt.
  • Donkey cart rides: [Weekends & holidays only] This traditional way of transport is lots of fun.
  • Foefie slide: Our zip line is 6 metres high and stretches 100 metres long across the farm dam.
  • Pedal cars: Getting around has never been this hugely entertaining. Let the races begin!
  • Rowing boats: Hop in one of our paddle boats and take a leisurely spin on our farm dam.
  • Trampolines: Because jumping just makes you happy. Go ahead, hop on!
  • Fun obstacle/team building course: Please note that booking is essential.
  • Farm atmosphere: We pride ourselves on creating a healthy farm atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy the fresh air.
  • Animal touch farm: In true farm style we have a variety of farm animals to feed including rabbits, a pig, billy goats, a donkey, emus and sheep.
  • Curios and gifts: Our shop has a large variety of local wines, homemade goodies and curios. Cold drinks, ice-cream, sweets, biltong and lots of special gifts are also available.

Head out to Wilgewandel Holiday Farm, just 27km from Oudtshoorn, and enjoy a fun-filled day in the fresh country air with beautiful views and tons of activities to keep the kids entertained for hours on end.

Fill up at our restaurant on anything from traditional home-cooked meals to delicious desserts, ostrich dishes, garden-fresh salads, gourmet milkshakes and home-made roosterkoek – all at affordable prices.

Don’t forget, we also have a special kiddies menu available for our younger guests. To celebrate those special days of the year, like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and Christmas, we prepare an extra special menu with great value meals to celebrate the occasion.

Wilgewandel Holiday Farm Restaurant caters for Vegetarian and Halaal and are more than happy to make arrangements for any guests that have special dietary needs. We also cater for birthday parties, special functions and school groups and can provide special rates and menus for groups larger than 20.

This intimate Klein Karoo restaurant might be small, but it certainly has a big heart. Here, patrons are welcomed with a great vibe, warm smiles and friendly, personal service.

They are fully licensed and their menu covers a delicious range of home-made burgers, steaks, home-made pizzas and more. You can even sip your gourmet milkshake from a real ostrich eggshell.

They’re also home to the Smallest Bar on Route 62 (sitting only 6-8 people). Come on and squeeze in for a drink, but should you prefer a bit more elbow room, there is seating inside for 12 and lovely courtyard seating for 36.

If all that isn’t incentive enough to lure you in, this vibey restaurant is also a hotspot for live music performances. (Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates on their line-up.)

Overview

This is where you will find one of the most amazing hideaways in the Western Cape.

Set amongst the mountains and the famous red hills, in our own private nature reserve and surrounded by game reserves – a secret place of magnificent views, glorious sunsets, star filled nights without a single city light to distract you, wonderful encounters with wildlife, fabulous food, long nights around the blazing fire

Situated a mere 15 minutes away from the bustling town of Oudtshoorn and even less to the major attractions of the region – from the breathtaking Swartberg Pass, to the wonders of Meiringspoort and everything else that makes Oudtshoorn the tenth most visited region in South Africa!

Our Rooms

Set amongst red Enon hills, and surrounded by game and nature with magnificent views, glorious sunsets, and star filled nights.

There are four chalets set on a hillside overlooking the valley and one cottage in the dry riverbed. Each of the chalets has a private deck with armchairs and cushions, each decorated in a different animal theme. If you are looking for Tourist Graded luxury 4* lodge this is the place for you,and we do endeavour to give you all the comforts that you might need and more.

The Chalets are set 300m and the Cottage about 50m from the main lodge where we light our nightly fire, eat dinner and breakfast. The animal view from here in the evening is spectacular. This makes every evening a really special occasion. The Chalets are directly linked to our two walking trails which take you right up to the hills and valleys and back to your chalet.

Our 4th Self Catering Cottage is tucked away in the river bed. It has its own fireplace and is completely secluded from the main lodge and other Chalets – but guests may, of course, join for breakfast or dinner, as you wish. This is a perfect honeymoon hideaway or for small families.

Private secluded deck overlooking valley, tea/coffee station, en-suite bathroom with shower, mini fridge with bottled water (no charge), aircons, panel heater for winter, bedding and towels provided and a hair dryer.
